    The Three States of Being

Every business moves through three states of being. Classic is the first state of being profitable: timeless and distinctively yourself, so what you present endures. Cute is the Art of the CEO — the apprentice turn that adds cleverness to originality. Consummate is the mastery state, where what you present is no longer merely original but optimum.

Know your first state: profitable. Classic, then profit. Cute, then prosperous. Consummate.

    Classic · Profitable
timeless · distinctively yourself · endures · original
    Cute · Prosperous
clever · appealing · in relation · persona · chosen
    Consummate · Optimum
finished · optimum · highest ground · organization · increase
  9. Slide 09

Cute — the Art of the CEO

The apprentice category takes one from just being classic to cute. It involves a sort of cleverness: you are still an original, but you are no longer presenting into a void. You are seeking a relationship — an optimum relationship, persona and organization — and you make yourself appealing to a person.

Peculiar is not the goal. Appeal is.

  10. Slide 10

Consummate — the Mastery O Word is Optimum

People think they only have to be original, because they have originality to work with. Originality is what you bring; it is not what you attain. The mastery O word is optimum — you must appeal to a person. The consummate state is the finished form of the pursuit: the course of action that produces the highest possibility of a positive outcome.

Originality is the raw material. Optimum is the attainment.

  11. Slide 11

    The Adventure

  12. Slide 12

    The Architect

The Architect turns pursuit into a schedule — hunger with a calendar.

  13. Slide 13

    Today's Practice

    1. Name the one thing you are truly pursuing this season. 2. Book a two-hour block for that pursuit today. 3. Drop one activity that pretends to be pursuit but is only motion.

  14. Slide 14

    Reflect

What am I pursuing that is actually mine — and what am I chasing to please someone else? Where has my pursuit lost scope? What would a scholarly, patient pursuit look like this month?

  15. Slide 15

    Vision and Increase

Pursuit directs movement toward what is worth pursuing.

Law of Pursuit builds upon Law of Plan, Law of Purpose, Law of Prospect.

A or B — the next smart step

Two doors today. Read the board, pick one move, then read again.

A · Best

Act on Law of Pursuit at its edge — the courageous line the Adventure would take. Adventure runs toward what it loves without losing its map.

B · Solid

Stabilise the position — the Architect's move that buys another clean turn. The Architect turns pursuit into a schedule — hunger with a calendar.

The Sovereign decides which door: The Sovereign pursues without begging; the chase is a discipline, not a plea.
